It goes from a black(ish) color when cold to a bold red when warm and of course you get the range of colors between. (We say blackish because the base color isn't black like the night, more like black like dark cherries. The black looks much blacker the more you layer.) We recommend at least 2 coats to darken the black. This also looks great
